A Right Royal Do – have you succumbed to Royal Wedding Fever?

There’s nothing like a royal wedding to get this country pulling together – we just love a big party, and the more glitzy the better.  Let’s face it, when it comes to tradition, pageantry and all things, well, British, we truly excel.   We’ve finally given into Royal Wedding Fever and now with hours before the big day the countdown has started.   Windsor has been given the deep clean treatment; cobbles have been hosed down, roads patched up, buildings and shop fronts painted – all in preparation for the 100,000 visitors who are expected to drop by on the big day this Saturday.

Whilst Meghan Markle is now getting more search traffic than Brexit on the internet, a mere 2,640 members of the public have been invited to Windsor Castle to see the couple arrive, and 600 guests will attend the ceremony in Windsor Castle.  We’re told that the cake is being made by Violet Bakery and that it’s going to be lemon and elderflower.  And the flowers are apparently following a wildlife theme (so says Harpers Bazaar) designed by London-based florist Philippa Craddock.  A statement released by Kensington Palace said that even the bees are catered for “The Royal Parks will also supply pollinator-friendly plants from their wildflower meadows.”

So yes, it is the big event of the year – and the Royal Family and cohorts have done what they’re good at doing – arranging a darn big ‘do’.  But, more importantly, where will you be celebrating?  You may not have a hand-stitched beaded Ralph & Russo dress costing a mere £100,000, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.  Whilst they’ve calculated that 23 million tuned into watch William and Kate’s big day from home, and that three million kettles are expected to be boiled to celebrate the newlywed couple we’d suggest leaving your sofa and enjoying the atmosphere in the city.

In order to make sure that you don’t miss any of Meghan and Harry’s big day you could attend one of the many royal wedding screenings around the capital.  From restaurants and bars to alfresco spots and roof terraces Visit London app has information about all the different places you can go to watch the royal knot being tied.  Alternatively Grosvenor House and The Savoy are offering a royal tea party to celebrate, or if that’s too traditional for you the Hard Rock Café is offering ‘rock with royalty’.   And then there’s the street parties – according to The Standard, the British public will likely munch through over 1.4 million sandwiches at their street parties alone – with Marks & Spencer’s already stocking up in preparation.

But if a soggy sarnie isn’t your thing (even if it is M&S) and you want to party with celebs (after all the Beckhams are reputedly celebrating with the royals) then we’ve got the perfect solution.   We’d like to invite you to our ‘Royal Stag and Hen Do’ this Friday 18 May at Madame Tussauds where you can enjoy the glitz and glamour without the crowds.   Our social media photographer will be on hand to capture the fun for you (ok he’s not Alexi Lubomirski but he’s the next best thing), you can snap a selfie with over 200 wax figures (including the royal family on the new royal balcony), enjoy a glass of Prosecco, step on set with will.i.am as you become a Coach on The Voice UK and much more.  So make this a royal wedding celebration to remember and get your tickets (£29 each) from https://www.madametussauds.com/london/en/a-royal-stag-and-hen-do/
