Movies at Madame Tussauds Launch Event
05 May 2016
Madame Tussauds is one of London’s most popular, award winning venues that has been hosting amazing parties for over fifty years for events for up to 1000 guests.
Movie’s at Madame Tussauds is a brand new event venue where guests can step into some of the world’s most famous film sets from the Marvel and Star Wars Movies. The brand new event space can accommodate up to 80 guests for seated dinners and 120 for standing events. The auditorium can seat up to 280 guests.
How it came about…
Stardome 4D has always been part of the Merlin Events portfolio but with the recent addition of the Star Wars experience we thought it was time for a change! This was encouraged by the entire team as Marvel has always been an operational challenge due to be being spread across two levels! We have fused together the two famous movie franchises to create the all new Movies at Madame Tusssauds event venue. This wasn’t the easy task that you might imagine; when working with intellectual property we had to be very careful; even deciding upon a name was challenging; hence the arrival of ‘Movies at Madame Tussauds’! That is not the only reason it has taken a while for the event space to be launched; when the Star Wars experience opened to the general public in 2015 the space just wasn’t conducive to seamless events due to its location in the building. A little problem like that has never stopped a unique venue event manager and a few trial routes later we have found the perfect solution of integrating the two movie spaces to create a seamless event experience! The event space interweaves Captain America and Iron Man with the swamps of Dagobah, Jabba the Hutt’s Throne Room and the flight deck of the Millennium Falcon, not to mention the Marvel superheroes 4D show.
On the 4th May, a date synonymous with movie fans around the world Merlin Events launched the new event space to event professionals and press. The original Star Wars film was released in 1977 so what better theme than a 70’s party! Having arrived on the black carpet, within metres from the centrally located Baker Street station guests were treated to the classic 70’s Singapore Sling and Harvey Wallbanger cocktails whilst nibbling on canapes including Mini Beef Wellingtons and of course mushroom and tarragon vol au vents. Guests then had a taste of the silver screen with a private viewing of the Marvel 4D cinema show whilst nibbling on popcorn before being escorted to the Star Wars experience by our very own Jedi’s. Guests then took their seats in Jabba the Hutt’s Throne room as Food by Dish wowed the crowd with a typical 1970’s meal of deconstructed prawn cocktail, with Bloody Mary salsa served in cantina style mess tins followed by duck a l’orange, pomme puree, wilted spinach and French beans. To top the evening off guests were wowed with Bubbling Tiramisu and treated to delicious Brandy Alexander digestifs.
To ensure guests were truly transported to Mos Eisley’s Cantina on the planet of Tatooine the Cantina Band was on hand to keep guests entertained throughout dinner with their catchy but somewhat repetitious tune!
